Born
in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania in 1945. Received his formal training
at Dartmouth College where he studied under George Rickey, Richard
Anuskiewicz, Walter Murch, and Varujian Boghosian. After graduating
in 1970 he taught art at Hanover High in New Hampshire and was Chairman
of the Art Department untill 1977. In the last two years of his
teaching post he taught with the great Bauhaus painter Hannes Beckmann.
Along with Beckmann's teaching of the psychology of perception,
the artist was greatly influenced by Faber Birren's writings on
color theory. Scientists like Einstein and Jung were also influential.
In 1985 his work was selected for the Illuminating Color exhibit
at Pratt Institute Gallery in New York, and in 1986 his paintings
were included in the National Academy of Fantastic Art exhibit at
the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington and again in 1990. In 1994
his paintings were included in the West Marine Art exhibit at the
Columbia River Maritime Museum in Astoria, Oregon, and at the Maritime

The
artist felt compelled to measure his painting ability against
those of the great masters, particularly the visual richness of
the fifteenth century Flemish Painters. Combining his technical
ability with a brilliant ease of color value, the artist's finished
paintings are worthy of comparison with the mystical realism of
the Viennese fantastic realists.
Limited
edition prints are available for sale in the print
