Born in Ashville, North Carolina
in 1923. He won a four year scholarship to the Montreal Museum School
and continued his studies at the Ontario College of Art in 1942.
When he moved to Los Angeles he became sought after for his portrait
painting and painted many prominent southern Californians. He had
a number of successful one-man shows and was represented by the
major galleries in the Los Angeles area.
