Born in Los Angeles in 1932. His style
of painting was influenced by his teacher of fifteen years, master
painter Theodore Lukits. The artist painted album covers and backdrop
scenery for C.B.S. and N.B.C. Television, and for 20th Century
Fox Studios. In 1965 he devoted his full efforts to easel painting.
The plein-air school of painting is obvious in much of Verdugo's
work, as light and color become the essence of his paintings with
the paint stroked onto the canvas rather than blended. He has
had many successful shows throught California and his work has
been represented in galleries throughout the United States. His
studio paintings of still- life painted in the classical manner
are as much sought after as his outdoor figure paintings at the
seashore.
